As you'll see from a quick Google, you can't rely on your mobile phone for directions in the bush (even if you could manage to get reception). These maps give an idea of the wilderness surrounding our Phundundu camp. And it's yet another example of the benefits of recruiting rangers from local communities: they have generations of knowledge about the land in their bones. This means for them making these areas safe for wildlife isn't just another job; it's personal.
